Donald Trump’s running after Tim Cook : Wants Apple to manufacture products in the US

Originally Apple manufactured their products in the United States; that was way back in the 80s. Also, Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple when he left the company and started NeXT, he started a factory in the United States but that didn’t fare out well – the labour is pretty expensive in the US compared to China.

Before his death, Steve Jobs told Obama administration that Apple will never manufacture their products in United States ever again. Obama tried to convince Apple a countless times to reconsider but Apple was adamant.

Now, with Donald Trump about to take the presidency in his hands, things might change. I say *might*. Trump is a shrewd businessman, his whole family has been in business – his father was a businessman who left the business for Donald Trump to handle. He went through lows but he recovered and made sure that his empire rose to heights which didn’t happen even when it was under his father’s hand.

Getting back to the Apple thing. Tim Cook called up Trump, maybe to congratulate him on his victory. However, according to Trump, he asked Tim to reconsider shifting Apple’s manufacturing plant to the US. In his own words : “I said, ‘Tim, you know one of the things that will be a real achievement for me is when I get Apple to build a big plant in the United States, or many big plants in the United States, where instead of going to China, and going to Vietnam, and going to the places that you go to, you’re making your product right here.'”

Trump didn’t shed light on what Cook said about this matter, however, he said that Cook was understanding.

Trump continued on his talk with Cook and he said : “I think we’ll create the incentives for you, and I think you’re going to do it. We’re going for a very large tax cut for corporations, which you’ll be happy about.”
