Eventually NVIDIA rolls out the model GTX 1060 3GB instead of GTX 1050 model, also takes on RX 480

Recently, the Graphics card manufacturing company NVIDIA has released the Pascal GTX 1060 3GB model instead of the GTX 1050. The company released it to take on the Radeon RX 480, the AMD’s Polaris GPU.

AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.), is these days leading the mainstream market of video cards with its low-end and mid-level cards. The reason is that these much cheaper cards can perform almost as better as expensive cards from other brands. In response to that, NVIDIA released GTX 1060 while the 6GB model is priced at $249, and thus remains expensive. While the GTX 1060 3GB model costs $200.

Most expected it to be the GTX 1050 model as the specifications of the card are much lower than the 1060 6GB video card. According to ExtremeTech, the 6GB model has 1280 CUDA cores while 3GB model comes with 1152 cores only. Most of the times, a card with a lower memory buffer still comes with the same specs as its larger predecessor, but unexpectedly the case of GTX 1060 is a different one.

When the GTX 1060 6GB model was rolled out, many rumors ran around about the GTX 1050 and the former was still several dollars off of the range for the AMD Radeon RX 480. However, many users are now expecting that the GTX 1050, which is low at specification, will be targeted towards the Radeon RX 470 which costs around $150, that is much lesser.

According to Motley Fool, a multimedia financial-services company, NVIDIA claims that its GTX 1060 6GB variant is 5% faster than its 3GB counterpart. For an everyday gamer, it will be hard to notice the frame difference but this will not be the case with eager enthusiast.

While playing games on the GTX 1060 3GB model more than 1440p, issues were also reported by users thanks to the glitchy launch driver that the company released with the video card. The Pascal video card performs almost as better as the Radeon RX 480 8GB in the game Rise of the Tomb Raider at 1440p. The first at 46 frames per second compared to 48 frames per second rate of the second, according to a review from Guru3D.

In most of retailers, the GTX 1060 3GB model is priced at $200 for the customers. This is a very good option for the gamers who wish to have a gaming experience much closer to the one with the AMD Radeon RX 480.
