According to some recent reports, like Apple’s iPhone 7 and other upcoming leading phones of the like, Sony is also going to release its new phone to compete the other brands.
Sony’s current featured mobile, the Xperia X, is expected to be replaced by the company’s new offering i.e. Sony Xperia XR. The latest phones released by Sony include Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra and the current flagship mobile known as the Xperia X Performance. However, according to the recent photos leaked by Mobipicker, another featured phone named the Xperia XR is going to be added to the Xperia X family.
Moreover, according to a report published on Techplz, Sony rolled out three of its upcoming smartphones, in the last Mobile World Congress, and the nice thing to see is that all of these phones viz. the Xperia, Xperia XA, and the Xperia X Performance belong to the ‘X’ product line. A period later, Xperia XA Ultra was released by the company.
By looking at the trend followed by Sony’s ‘X’ product line, it seems that the company may be dropping the ‘Z’ series for now and give more room to the Xperia X brand range.
The upcoming flagship phone from Sony, the Xperia XR, is speculated to have dimensions of 146.4 x 71.9 x 81.9 mm while ‘F8331’ will be its model number. On the other hand, the Xperia X Performance has dimensions of 143.7 x 70.4 x 8.7 mm. So the new ‘X’ series phone will be larger, wider and thinner than its predecessor.
According to the recent leaked news, the new phone will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor alongside 32GB of RAM. Its full HD display will be of 5.1 inches featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It will be having a primary camera of 23MP featuring dual LED flash and 4K shooting. Moreover, the front camera will also have 4K video shooting support. It will also feature USB Type-C port on its bottom end.
On the software side, the Sony Xperia XR will be using Android 6.0 (codenamed Marshmallow) which is expected to be updatable to the latest Android OS i.e. Android 7.0 (codenamed Nougat).
At the coming IFA press conference on 1st of September, the upcoming Sony’s phone is speculated to be released. The new smartphone may also be given the name Xperia X2 instead of Xperia XR while it also seems that Sony is not going to release the Z6 phone before 2017.
