Microsoft has declared that its new official browser, the Edge browser lasts much longer than other leading browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Opera. The company has claimed the new browser provides 36 to 53 percent more battery life while the user is browsing, chatting on social media, watching videos and doing other jobs of the like.
Due to the above reasons, Microsoft wants that its customers should move on to the Edge browser and to encourage the users it will even be rewarding the users, however, this offer is available only to those living in the United States.
According to a report published on CNET this Friday, “Almost three-quarters of Windows 10 users are not using the Edge browser.”
The report further added that the ‘Microsoft Rewards’ is just a rebranding of ‘Bing Rewards’. The rewards scheme provides points to users for using the Edge browser and the Bing search engine, besides offering shopping opportunities at the Microsoft store.
Moreover, to make points using Bing, the users must set it as the default search engine. The point earned can eventually be traded in as credits that can be used at different places like Amazon, Skype, Starbucks and even to get the ad-free version of Microsoft Outlook.com. Besides that, vouchers can also be got with those points.
A few years ago, the Internet Explorer, a forerunner of Edge ruled the browsers world. However, over the last few years, its counterparts like Google’ Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox succeeded in the browser market and became very popular. Whereas, Microsoft’s Edge and the Internet Explorer both failed to compete in the browser market.
